keep on submitting!

hello friends- it’s been rather a while since i’ve come back here to update, due to extensive traveling and a complete lack of internet service.  i wanted to point out that i have relocated to what could be affectionately termed “the boonies”, and as a result have no internet access at home; it is limited to my once-weekly trip to the library, and so you may have noticed that submission response time has slowed.

however, do not fret, as all submissions will be read and responded to in the order they are received.

still not enough poems to put out the first issue; i’m working on that.  craigslist is yelling at me for posting the same ad too many times.  how am i supposed to get word out across the globe that i am dying for excellent poetry?

peace, love and corn muffins- your editor.

love poems

that is, we love poems; we welcome your submissions year-round on all themes.

we welcome poems on all topics, and while there are a few topics that we certainly tire of reading about, we are interested more in a well-crafted poem than in anything else, regardless of topic.

keep sending them in; we need more to publish a first issue, and i very much want to see this get started.

solstice

cheers, friends and writers.  the solstice is upon us, and while we have accepted a total of 9 poems, we are nowhere close to publishing a first issue.  it has been rescheduled for march 21, at which time i hope it will be considerably bulkier.

as this is the shortest day of the year, take time to reflect upon the dark of the evening and what changes will come about with the longer days.

7 poems accepted so far

and we’re looking for more.  so keep writing, keep sending.  remember to only send one poem per submission, but submit as many poems as you like.

as freedom is a breakfastfood
or truth can live with right and wrong
or molehills are from mountains made
—long enough and just so long
will being pay the rent of seem
and genius please the talentgang
and water most encourage flame
as hatracks into peachtrees grow
or hopes dance best on bald mens hair
and every finger is a toe
and any courage is a fear
—long enough and just so long
will the impure think all things pure
and hornets wail by children stung
or as the seeing are the blind
and robins never welcome spring
nor flatfolk prove their world is round
nor dingsters die at break of dong
and common’s rare and millstones float
—long enough and just so long
tomorrow will not be too late
worms are the words but joy’s the voice
down shall go which and up come who
breasts will be breasts thighs will be thighs
deeds cannot dream what dreams can do
—time is a tree(this life one leaf)
but love is the sky and i am for you
just so long and long enough
-e.e. cummings

first issue – december 21?

i decided on a goal of december 21 for the first issue of winter wheat, small poetry mag extraordinaire.  i’ve decided that if i don’t have enough submissions by then, i’ll move it to march 21, but i’d like to get that goal realized.

tell your friends.  everyone send their best poetry.

welcome

welcome to winter wheat.  we are excited to get a new litmag off the ground.  please feel free to post comments with any questions about the mag or website.
